Lost Tribe has been busy this weekend with something special, something that we hope sets the scene for our vision and content going forward.
Yom Ha’atzmaut is Israel Independence Day, a celebration of not only Israel becoming an independent country in 1948, but a day to really showcase what makes Israel special. Lost Tribe created a three-day streaming celebration that aims to bring teens together from all over the world and provide them a space to be themselves and learn more about their culture and their connection to Israel.
“Israel is one of my favorite places to visit in the world, filled with incredible culture, food, music, and — most importantly — amazing people. […] Throughout history, Jewish people have been displaced, run out of countries, and persecuted,” Jake Offenheim, our Director of Influencer Marketing, said during the stream. “The fact that there’s a strong Jewish state that welcomes and protects all Jews — in our ancestral Homeland — is something we should not take for granted.”
While the gaming tournaments and talent show were a huge draw of our Yom Ha’atzmaut celebration this year, the main goal we had was letting Jewish teens all across the internet to know that we are a safe space where they can freely express themselves, ask questions, learn more about their culture, and find friends from all over the world.
This three-day stream is actually just the beginning for us. We are currently deep in the process of creating content series, streams, blog posts, and social media posts that are focused on highlighting what Israel is really like.
We aren’t here to preach or lecture about Israel. We never will. We don’t want to. We are here to make authentic, interesting content that shows Israel beyond what you may experience online or on a group tour.
The comic book stores, food markets, glamping trips, historical buildings, esports tournaments, cute cafes… These are all things that are not often highlighted yet shine a light on how Israel is an innovative, eclectic, and exciting place for all types of teens with varying interests.
At a time when Israel is often portrayed in a negative light online and antisemitism is increasing at a concerning rate, we want our Discord community to be a place filled with differing beliefs, ideas, and cultures — a place where important discussion can respectfully take place.
Our Yom Ha’atzmaut Celebration
We aren’t here to make a statement. Our Israel Independence Day celebration is just a three-day virtual festival that is all about being yourself and the freedom of expression.
We started with a talent show hosted by a popular Israeli streamer, Danielle Destiny. Then we had a Fortnite tournament, Brawlhalla Crew Battles, and finally a Rocket League tournament, all streaming on Twitch. These will reach some of our most active communities as we grow our presence in the gaming space.
“It’s been so exciting seeing our communities growing and coming together as we continue to come up with new ways to reach a wide range of demographics. From legit gaming tournaments to vegan cooking shows, we continue to be more and more inclusive,” said Creative Brand Strategist Olivia Richman. “Yom Ha’atzmaut is just the beginning of our ongoing strategy to celebrate diversity, fandoms, and Israel.”
With the addition of our iconic giveaways — which include merch, gaming consoles, and gift cards — we expect to have a pretty good turnout at this year’s Yom Ha’atzmaut stream. As always, we hope the energetic gaming streams combined with our staff’s welcoming personalities will inspire our community to continue growing at a rapid pace each event.
